We made it, we have reached the milestone of 1 million pounds raised for charities, schools and non-profits. Collectors across the UK have helped raise donations for schools, charities and non-profits by sending in hard to recycle waste like crisp packets, pet food pouches and contact lenses for recycling.
On behalf of the entire TerraCycle Europe team, we would like to THANK ALL OUR COLLECTORS who made this milestone possible. What we have accomplished is incredible!
Since TerraCycle has been in UK, more than 92 million units of waste have been sent to be recycled. The collectors who sent it have earned points that can be converted into a monetary reward for the charities, schools or non-profits of their choice. Can we do more than this? OF COURSE, WE CAN!

This has been a big step, but it is not the limit of what can be achieved!
We encourage every current and new collector to sign up for free recycling programmes to help us eliminate the ideas of waste. We regularly launch new recycling programmes to offer the possibility for everyone to take part in our work.
TerraCycle offers free recycling programmes – which are open for anyone to join – in partnership with some of the UK’s best-loved brands, including Walkers, pladis (the company behind McVitie’s and Jacob’s), Whiskas, Acuvue and Hovis. These programmes enable you to send your waste to TerraCycle free of charge for recycling. For every shipment of waste sent in to TerraCycle, you can earn TerraCycle points which are redeemable as a cash reward to the charity, school or non-profit of your choice.
How do I redeem the TerraCycle points?
In order to help your charity or school, you can redeem your points easily on your TerraCycle account by signing in on TerraCycle website.
Before redeeming your points, you need to choose a charity by going to the page “MY CHARITIES” and search for existing charities (by name, location etc.).
You can even add your local charity by clicking on “ADD NEW CHARITY” at the bottom of the page.
When you choose the charity or school you want to support, you just select it on the website and click on “REDEEM MY POINTS”. Please note, you must redeem a minimum of 1,000 TerraCycle points, or £10.
Little by little, we managed to raise 1 million pounds so congratulation to all of you and please continue to help us eliminate the idea of waste!!!

I understand that you are no longer participating in the Mars Petcare programme in respect of Pet pouches. Could you tell me why this is.

Hi Carole, thanks for asking. TerraCycle can only offer free recycling solutions to consumers where we have a brand -partner funding the collection and recycling of hard-to-recycle waste. In the case of pet food pouches, which cannot be recycled via traditional means as a result of their complex material makeup, Mars Petcare will no longer be sponsoring The Petfood Recycling Programme. However, Mars Petcare remains committed to the development of flexible plastic recycling infrastructure in the UK and you can read more about other ways to recycle pet food pouches at https://gbr.mars.com/flexible-plastic-recycling.
